Grace volunteers support Greenfleet’s 2026 Queensland planting event

A team of Grace volunteers recently took part in a Queensland tree planting initiative at Greenfleet’s Ivory Creek project on Yuggera Country, contributing to the restoration of native forest and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.

Working alongside other volunteers, the team planted approximately 1,000 native trees throughout the day. The planting included a variety of species, such as eucalypts, which will play a vital role in providing habitat for local wildlife, including Queensland’s endangered koalas.

The day commenced with a Welcome to Country led by Aaron Ruska and the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company. The experience offered an opportunity to reflect on the cultural significance of the land and the importance of caring for Country.

In a memorable highlight, the team spotted a koala and her joey on site, reinforcing the value of the restoration efforts and the impact these initiatives have on protecting native species.

Nancy Oberholzer, Service Delivery Manager of Grace Removals, shared her experience on the day, “We’re already looking forward to coming back next year to see how the trees have grown. Spotting a koala and her baby made the experience even more memorable.”

The Ivory Creek site is legally protected for 100 years, ensuring that the environmental benefits of the planting will support biodiversity and ecosystem health for generations to come.

Grace is proud to support initiatives like this, partnering with organisations such as Greenfleet to help restore native forests and contribute to a more sustainable future.
