Grace supports the GCW Group’s new partnership with Blackroo Community Indigenous Corporation

We are proud to share a preview of an exciting new initiative as part of a broader partnership between the GCW Group and Blackroo Community Indigenous Corporation (Blackroo).

To help kickstart this collaboration, Grace has donated a brand new dual cab BT-50 Mazda ute to Blackroo. Featuring stunning artwork by a local community artist, the vehicle will play a key role in supporting Blackroo’s vital initiatives. It will serve a practical and powerful purpose in Blackroo’s grassroots programs. One of its key functions will be supporting women and families escaping domestic violence by helping deliver much needed furniture and household items to new, safer homes across New South Wales. In addition, it will transport essential educational supplies as part of Blackroo’s Back to School program – an initiative that ensures children in need have access to the tools and resources required to thrive in their learning journey.

Steve Fordham, founder of Blackroo, proud Indigenous leader from Kamilaroi Country, and recipient of the NSW Young Achiever of the Year 2020, emphasised the deeper meaning behind this gift.  “It’s more than just a vehicle,” he said. “It’s a symbol of hope, resilience, and a shared commitment to uplifting our communities.”

Blackroo stands as a beacon of hope and resilience within both the Indigenous and broader community, dedicated to fostering positive change and empowerment. Founded by Steve Fordham, Blackroo began its journey with a vision to address the pressing issues affecting Indigenous individuals and families in the Muswellbrook Hunter region and beyond.

This new partnership is part of GCW Group’s broader reconciliation efforts, aimed at fostering deeper, more meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Together, we are committed to creating a lasting, positive impact.
