Getting ready for the PRIS Act
Turning policy into action for WA Government Agencies
The Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing (PRIS) Act takes effect on 1 July 2026. For WA public sector organisations, that means real changes to how personal information is managed, governed, and accounted for.
Most organisations know PRIS is coming. Fewer know where they actually stand. This session, hosted by Grace Information and RecordPoint at the State Library of Western Australia, is designed to close that gap, with expert speakers, an intimate government only audience, and time set aside for real questions.
On the day
We’ll open with coffee and something to eat so there’s time to settle in and connect before the session begins. Morning tea rounds out the morning once the formal program wraps.
9:15am – Arrival and coffee
9:30am – Presentations and discussion
11:00am – Open Q&A
11:20am – Morning tea
12:00pm – Close
Hear from those closest to the legislation
We’re joined by two speakers at the centre of PRIS implementation:

Annelies Moens
Information Commissioner - WA

Damian Shepherd
Executive Director of the State Records Office WA
You’ll hear how PRIS applies in practice, its impact on FOI, where organisations are most vulnerable, how expectations are shifting, and what good looks like beyond policy.
From legislation to action
Subject matter experts will also walk through a practical approach to PRIS readiness, covering:
- Understanding what information your organisation actually holds
- Building governance that works in practice, not just on paper
- Reducing risk and improving breach readiness
Taking clear next steps back to your team
What you’ll leave with
- A clearer picture of PRIS expectations, FOI impacts and where organisations commonly fall short
- A practical starting point for your own readiness work
- Time to ask questions and work through real scenarios with experts and peers
