UNSW Health Translation Hub (HTH)

Delivering a Fully Integrated FF&E and Logistics Solution for a Complex, Multi-Use Development

Project overview

The UNSW Health Translation Hub (HTH) is a major development within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, designed to bring together health education, training, research, and acute healthcare services. As a complex, multi-use facility with diverse operational requirements, the project demanded precise planning, seamless coordination, and highly specialised delivery capabilities.

Grace Workplace Solutions played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the project, delivering an end-to-end FF&E and integrated services solution that supported the building’s broader vision for innovation and excellence.

Project scope

Engaged by head contractor Hansen Yuncken and UNSW, the Grace team delivered a comprehensive package covering:

  • Project management
  • Procurement and vendor engagement
  • Warehousing and inventory control
  • QR-based asset tracking
  • Delivery sequencing and logistics
  • Assembly and installation
  • Commissioning
  • Warranty compliance

“This was a fully integrated logistics and FF&E package,” explained Hamish Dahya, Director FF&E/Commercial. “Using digital dashboards and live site drawings, stakeholders could track assets in real time, from procurement through to installation and commissioning. It ensured minimal double handling and precise delivery sequencing.”

Grace tailored its approach to meet the unique needs of healthcare, education, and research environments, ensuring functional, compliance-driven and risk-based requirements were met across all areas.

Project challenges

The HTH project presented several logistical and operational challenges:

  1. Multi-sector Integration

The building’s combination of healthcare, education, and research spaces required distinct FF&E strategies for each environment, with varying compliance, safety and operational considerations.

  1. Near-complete construction site

Coordinating deliveries and installations in a live, nearly completed construction environment required meticulous planning.
“We had to manage restricted access and out-of-hours deliveries,” Hamish noted.

  1. High-spec, high-security environment

Precision, cleanliness, and safety were critical, especially in spaces destined for clinical use.

Grace addressed these challenges through:

  • Detailed, phased delivery schedules
  • Real-time asset tracking for complete visibility
  • Deployment of experienced site project managers, supervisors and installation specialists
  • Use of trained, security-cleared personnel
  • Close collaboration with Hansen Yuncken to minimise disruption to ongoing works

“Operating in high-spec environments like this means safety and precision are everything,” Hamish added.

Results

Grace Workplace Solutions successfully delivered a seamless FF&E installation that met the strict standards of the HTH project. The combination of digital innovation, strategic planning, and practical expertise ensured:

  • Accurate sequencing and minimal double handling
  • Fully traceable assets from procurement to commissioning
  • Smooth delivery and installation despite site constraints
  • Strong stakeholder confidence through real-time visibility
  • Operational readiness aligned with the project’s timeline

The project reinforces Grace’s reputation as a trusted provider of integrated FF&E solutions for complex infrastructure developments. Through thoughtful planning and expert execution, Grace supported the HTH’s broader vision to advance health, research, and education outcomes for the NSW community.
