Sea freight
Most international moves occur by sea, as it is the most cost-effective and reliable way to transport large volumes of household goods. Items are carefully packed, wrapped, and labelled to ensure they remain safe during transit. Once prepared, they are loaded into secure steel containers for shipping overseas.
Air freight
Air freight is often the preferred option for time-sensitive items that you need before your sea shipment arrives, or for goods being sent to challenging destinations where sea freight is impractical. Grace offers door to door services using quality airlines to virtually any global destination.
Transit protection
Grace Easycover offers comprehensive protection for the risks of long-distance international shipping by air or sea. With two levels of international removalists liability extension, we provide financial coverage for loss or damage during transit and overseas storage—from packing to final delivery.
Shipment tracking
Having real-time visibility of your air or sea shipment is incredibly reassuring, especially for consignments which can take weeks by sea. Each Grace client shipping overseas receives a live tracking link to monitor their shipment’s location and estimated arrival dates throughout the transit.
You can elect to pack some or all of your belongings for an international move and Grace can provide you with packing materials and advice. We do not however recommend self-packing, as there are specific customs packing list requirements for international removals. There are also damage liability limitations placed upon owner packed cartons. Your Grace International Consultant will be able to advise you further around self-packing options for overseas moves.
It’s important to note that only Grace is authorised to pack air freight shipments under the regulated air cargo agent scheme managed by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
The Grace export packing crew will disassemble selected furniture items for more efficient packaging and wrapping. These include beds, table legs, buffet mirrors and hutches. Our standard international service includes the reassembly of these items at the time of delivery.
The dismantling and reassembly of items such as trampolines, gym and swing sets does not form part of our normal service as there is often a need for specialised tools. Your Grace moving consultant will be able to include an option for specialist assembly services within your quotation proposal.
If you have added or removed furniture items between the time of your initial quotation and your move, it is important to please contact your Grace moving consultant and we will review the quote if necessary.
An authorised representative needs to be at both the uplift and delivery of your belongings. At delivery it is especially important that this person can advise the delivery crew on the placement of furniture and cartons in the new home and complete the delivery documentation.
Our standard international service includes the unpacking of all Grace packed cartons, unwrapping and reassembly of all furniture items at the time of delivery and the removal of all packing debris.
The following are considered to be dangerous goods and are not transportable by Grace:
Cooking Oils, Cleaning Solvents, Aerosol Cans, Matches, Firelighters, Pesticides, Paint Thinners, Oil, Petrol, Kerosene, Methylated Spirits, Turpentine, Weed Killers, Photographic Chemicals, Swimming Pool Treatments and Firearms.
Some countries also have specific import restrictions for certain items. Your Grace International Moving Consultant will be able to provide you with this advice at the time of quotation.
