Over the years, we at Grace have found that people were throwing out between 15- 50kg of unwanted goods when moving house. That’s why we’ve joined forces with the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) to offer a free donation service to help Australian movers make a difference.
What does Vinnies do?
Vinnies supports Australians who are living in poverty and experiencing disadvantage. More than 40,000 members and volunteers work to assist people in need and combat social injustice across Australia.
The charity operates more than 650 Vinnies stores nationally, each selling pre-loved, donated goods to the public. The money that is generated through the stores is vital to funding the St Vincent de Paul Society’s national programs which include:
- Operating homeless services
- Employment and financial support services
- Friendship programs for those living with mental illness
- Youth services
- Refugee assistance and resettling programs
What are Grace doing to help?
At Grace, we noticed a lot of good quality items being thrown out by our clients. We decided to get involved to help the communities who have helped us grow over the years. We offer the Vinnies initiative to our clients who are moving house to give them the option to donate their unwanted goods to charity, instead of throwing them out.
|As part of regular removal and storage services, Grace provides FREE specially marked Vinnies moving boxes. Once you’ve packed these boxes with your unwanted goods, they’re picked up by Grace and taken to your local Vinnies shop on your behalf.|
How can I donate my unwanted stuff?
Step 1: Speak to your Grace Moving Consultant about our ‘move house, make a difference’ Vinnies cartons. Grace will deliver these specially marked boxes prior to your move.
Step 2: Fill these cartons with your unwanted goods. This may include:
- Shoes and handbags
- Books and electronics
Step 3: Grace will collect your Vinnies cartons and drop them off at your local Vinnies store on your behalf.
These goods are then sorted by the volunteers at Vinnies and resold in stores to help raise much needed funds for Australians in need. For more information on how you can move house and make a difference, click here.
