Our History

The Grace name first appeared on the Australian business scene in 1884, when brothers Joseph N.and Albert E. Grace opened Grace Bros, a small retail store in Sydney’s George Street. From this humble beginning the brothers built a retail empire based on service and value for money.

Grace Bros Removals was established in 1911, when Grace Bros purchased a small business in Camperdown, Sydney, complete with one repository and two horse drawn vehicles.

The decision to expand the removals division’s geographical coverage was made in 1950, with the establishment of the Brisbane branch. Through the acquisition of existing businesses and branch openings, the Australasian network was completed, providing Grace with complete coverage in both Australia and New Zealand.
